Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop – Saturday, May 31, 2014, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Hosted by evolation yoga Atlanta

Are you interested in Yoga and Mindfulness in a trauma-sensitive setting? This 4 hour workshop, led by Holle Black, Co-Founder of Centering Youth, and hosted by evolation yoga Atlanta, is for anyone interested in learning about trauma-sensitive yoga or teaching a trauma-sensitive Yoga and Mindfulness classes. You do not have to be a yoga teacher, or have any experience, to attend and benefit from this workshop.
Topics will include:
>What is trauma, and how does it effect the mind, body and ability to confront the challenges in our lives?
>How to use Yoga and Mindfulness to heal the mind-body connection and provide tools to calm, focus and find personal strength and balance;
>How a trauma-sensitive Yoga and Mindfulness class is different from a regular yoga class; and
>What to include and what to avoid in teaching a trauma-sensitive Yoga and Mindfulness class.
The Workshop will be led by Holle Black, E-RYT 500, certified Pranakriya Yoga Therapist and Co-Founder of Centering Youth, and will reflect the more than 2 years experience Holle has had leading Yoga and Mindfulness classes in juvenile detention, juvenile courts, classes for sexually exploited women, and other facilities, as well as weekly yoga classes at the Veterans Administration in Atlanta, working with Emory University and the VA on a research study of the benefits of yoga for women with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from sexual trauma while in the military.
